A Systematic Review of Research Questions in Mixed Methods Studies in Instructional Design

Researchers’ reliance on using mixed methods for in-depth understanding of a phenomenon is rise. This review provides synthesis studies Mixed Methods Research (MMR) approach in the field instructional design, with particular focus research questions. The results show that 752 articles published MMR design field, only 80 framed questions were consistent practice MMR. Of those studies, findings revealed experimental and descriptive most popular types used. Furthermore, multiple (n=59) peer-reviewed journals are mostly higher education (44%) K-12 settings (42.5%). Although, there steady increase application highest number 2018 (29%) 2017 (25%), accurately frame very low. study need to build researchers’ ability use their studies. report suggests optimal ways develop grounded fundamental principles
